Indianapolis - Indians and a Concert. 7/31/2022
Indianapolis was built on land first settled by the Miami Indian tribe. I happened to spend my last 3 years of high school attending North Central, at the time a relatively new school built on the north side to accommodate all the new residential developments being built there; three grades (10-12) with a total of 3,000 students. Back then I-465 was being built around the city to avoid downtown traffic. Originally constructed with only 2 lanes in each direction, this Interstate loop now has 4-5 lanes in each direction. You may conclude that there has been incredible growth since those days, or that I am incredibly old - or both.
We spent 2 nights and one full day here. Wendy decided that she did not care about going to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum to see all the race cars and memorabilia. I couldn’t understand why not, but we settled on visiting the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians And Western Art downtown instead. That turned out to be a great decision. See for yourself.
In the evening we met up with Lucy and Bill Manifold for dinner at “Mesh” and a Billy Strings concert at the TCU Amphitheater at White River State Park. (Full disclosure - I lived across the street from Lucy’s family while living in Indy and attending High School.) She works in retirement as an information expert at the Visitor Center in the same complex, so we ended up attending as “VIPs”. We enjoyed the company, wonderful seats, relaxing in the VIP tent, and of course the music, too.
Next leg, on to Michigan……
