Sundance

The Sundance Film Festival began in Salt Lake City in 1978 as the Utah/US Film Festival. The first festival included, among other films,  Midnight Cowboy, A Streetcar Named Desire, Deliverance and Mean Streets. It moved to Park City, UT, in 1981, and in 1984 the Sundance Institute took over the management of the festival. In 1991, the festival was officially renamed the Sundance Film Festival.

Today, most of the events are held in January in Park City, UT, but some are still held in Sundance, UT, about 15 miles east of Provo, at the Sundance Mountain Resort.

Obviously, the Resort focuses on skiing during the winter, but in the summer it hosts chairlift rides to the summit of the resort, zip lining and mountain biking down the mountain, hiking, and more.

The lift to the very top takes about 45 minutes utilizing 3 separate lift rides, with the reward of gorgeous views for riders. The most stunning views are at the top, peering from the small lodge and restaurant facility in all directions.

Here are the views from the first and third lifts as we head up the mountain.

Here is the final landing station at the very top of the mountain, along with pictures of the lodge and the views in all directions

One can see for many miles in all directions.

Next time  -  continuing further south.
